Lebron James To Wear Jersey Number ‘6’ Next Season

Next season, LeBron James is expected to wear a new jersey number.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania and Tim Cato, LeBron James will change his jersey number from 23 to 6 for the 2021-22 season.

According to Charania and Cato, the shift will occur after the release of “Space Jam: A New Legacy,” which is set for July 16, 2021 in the United States.

While the Lakers’ No. 23 jersey is currently available, Anthony Davis is anticipated to maintain his No. 3 jersey. There was speculation of LeBron handing Davis No. 23, which he wore with the New Orleans Pelicans, when Davis was initially moved to the Lakers.

In his 11 seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers, as well as his first three seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron wore the No. 23 jersey. During his four seasons with the Miami Heat, he wore the No. 6 jersey.

LeBron has explained why he switched to No. 6 with the Heat for a variety of reasons, but one of them seems to be out of respect for Michael Jordan.

James previously observed, “I just think what Michael Jordan has done for the game needs to be honored in some form soon. If Michael Jordan hadn’t come first, there would be no LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, or Dwyane Wade”.

“He is unable to obtain the logo, and if he is unable to do so, action must be taken. No NBA player, in my opinion, should wear the number 23. I’m going to create a petition, and I need everyone in the NBA to sign it”.

“Now, if I’m not wearing No. 23, no one else should be able to wear it.”
