Alvin Kamara is one of the best running backs in the NFL, and his number 41 has been a constant on the field for the past few years.
However, now that the NFL’s number rules have been relaxed, many players around the league are considering changing their numbers.
In contrast to before, where certain numbers were reserved based on your role on the team, certain roles can now select any number they want.
Running backs are a part of this change, as they now have a larger pool of options from which to choose.
In the case of Kamara, a report recently circulated that he would be changing his NFL number to 99. This angered some fans because it meant their Kamara jerseys would be made obsolete.
Kamara tried to put those reports to rest today by joking about the number he might really like to change to on Twitter.
“Lol you guys believe something… why would I want 99 when 69 is available?” Kamara joked. Of course, 69 is a funny number for a variety of reasons, some of which are a little immature.
Most of our devoted commenters have no doubt considered using the number on their rec league squads, and we’re sure they were very pleased with themselves when they did.
Kamara, on the other hand, does not seem to be changing his number anytime soon.
Lol y’all believe anything… why would I want 99 when 69 exists❤️
