Australia’s Emma McKeon Becomes First Female Swimmer To Win 7 Medals In One Olympics

With Australia claiming gold in the women’s 4 x 100m medley relay, McKeon became the first female swimmer to win seven medals at a single Olympics on Sunday.

McKeon also became only the second woman to win seven medals at a single Olympics, tying a record set by Soviet gymnast Mariya Gorokhovskaya in 1952.

Earlier in the day, McKeon surpassed swimming legend Ian Thorpe to become Australia’s most successful Olympian after finishing first in the women’s 50m freestyle with an Olympic record time of 23.81.
