After her wedding went awry, she found herself in an awkward situation.
She went ahead with the wedding, although with a different man, after her groom suddenly vanished.
According to the Tribune, the incident occurred on Monday in Maharajpur, in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.
The pair had just finished their jaimala, or garlands exchange, when the groom went missing, according to the news source.
Their families were getting ready for the big ceremony at the time.
The bride seemed to be upset by the news. The groom’s family reportedly looked for him in a flurry, but he was nowhere to be found.
The groom had not gone missing under suspicious circumstances—rather, he had purposefully left the scene for reasons that are still unclear.
Finally, one of the groom’s guests proposed that the wedding go ahead, but with a suitable wedding guest as the groom this time.
The bride’s family sifted through the groom’s wedding party’s selection of possible husbands, known as a baraat, and chose an eligible suitor. The bride married her new groom at the same venue.
The bride’s family, according to The Tribune, lodged a lawsuit against the groom and his family after the wedding. An official is said to have issued a statement on the subject:
“We’ve got complaints from both the bride and groom in this regard. While the bride’s side has sought appropriate action against the groom and his family, the groom’s father, Dharampal, has filed a complaint with the police asking for assistance in locating his missing son. In this case, the investigation is still ongoing.”
In other bizarre wedding news, a Spanish judge recently declined to marry a couple because of their wedding attire.
Juan Alberto, the groom, is said to have attended the wedding dressed as Jack Sparrow, complete with the fictional pirate’s long locks and hat.
The judge, on the other hand, advised Alberto that he needed to dress “properly” in order to officiate the wedding.
Meanwhile, on Monday, a Reddit post detailing one prospective bride’s outrageous list of requests for her bridal party went viral.
She demanded, among other things, that her bridesmaids drop multiple clothing sizes, to a size eight, and that they donate $500 to her honeymoon.
Following the conversation, the poster of the Reddit post is said to have dropped out of the bridal party.
