In the midst of the national media outrage over Britney Spears’ continuing conservatorship fight, Christina Aguilera has come out on her old Mickey Mouse Club co-behalf. star’s
Aguilera, who costarred with Spears on the children’s television series from 1993 to 1994, took to Twitter yesterday to express her opinions on Spears’ 13-year conservatorship by her father.
During a nearly 30-minute court appearance, Spears emphasized her displeasure with the lack of compassion shown by those in charge of and allowing the conservatorship, citing the particularly devastating psychological and emotional assault she has suffered.
The “Fighter” singer added a throwback photo of the two from their time on the iconic Disney program in her letter, which she posted on social media.
“I’ve been thinking about Britney and all she’s going through these past few days,” Aguilera tweeted.
“It is intolerable that any woman or human, who wishes to be in charge of her own destiny may not be permitted to do so.
“Being hushed, ignored, harassed, or refused assistance by those ‘near’ to you is the most draining, heartbreaking, and degrading experience conceivable,” Aguilera added.
“The mental and emotional devastation that this may do to a person’s spirit is not to be taken lightly. Every woman must be able to control her own body, her reproductive system, her privacy, her space, her recovery, and her happiness.”
Aguilera said, “While I am not privy to the inner workings of this complex and personal but public debate, all I can do is speak from my heart about what I’ve heard, read, and seen in the news. The sincerity and urgency with which this appeal for freedom is delivered causes me to assume that this person I once knew has been living in a world devoid of compassion or decency from those in power.
“I assure you that a woman who has worked under conditions and pressure that are unfathomable to most people deserves all of the freedom she can get to live her best life. Britney’s situation breaks my heart. She is deserving of all of the world’s TRUE love and support” she concluded.
Other celebrities, such as Justin Timberlake, have also spoken out in favor of Spears.
Timberlake expressed his thoughts regarding Spears’ conservatorship and all she’s been through on Twitter last week.
“What’s happening to her isn’t right, regardless of our history, good or terrible, and regardless of how long ago it was. No woman should ever be denied the right to make choices about her own body” He tweeted about it.
On June 23, Spears addressed her concerns directly for the first time during the much-anticipated virtual conservatorship hearing.
The conservatorship will be the subject of a new court hearing next month.

After what we saw today, we should all be supporting Britney at this time.
Regardless of our past, good and bad, and no matter how long ago it was… what’s happening to her is just not right.
No woman should ever be restricted from making decisions about her own body.
