For attacking the spouse of former “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Dina Manzo, a suspected Mafioso was sentenced to two and a half years in prison on Thursday.
Acting US Attorney Rachael Honig stated in a statement that John Perna, 44, an alleged soldier in the Lucchese criminal family, roughed up Manzo’s new boyfriend at the direction of her furious ex-husband Tom Manzo in July 2015.
Perna allegedly received a large discount on a wedding celebration at Manzo’s ritzy Patterson restaurant, Brownstone, in exchange for his strongarm services.
“Over 330 people attended the celebration, many of them were members of the Lucchese Crime Family,” according to the statement.
In a Passaic County strip mall parking lot, Perna, the son of suspected Lucchese capo Ralph Perna, was accused of using a slap jack to beat up Dina Manzo’s new boyfriend (now husband) David Cantin.
Dina and Tom divorced in 2016 after splitting up in 2012. At the moment of the attack, they were on their way out.
Dina married Cantlin in 2019, after appearing on the first two seasons of “Real Housewives of New Jersey.”
After he is released from prison, Perna will be required to serve three years of supervised release and pay almost $18,000 in reparations, according to a federal court.
The suspected Cosa Nostra member is the son of Lucchese capo Ralph Perna, who was accused by the FBI of heading the group’s operations in the Garden State.
Tom Manzo, 56, was recently accused in a different instance for allegedly targeting his wife and her new spouse in a 2017 home invasion with an acquaintance.
According to authorities, one of the assailants shouted before they departed, “This is what happens when you f—k with a person from Paterson.”
