While hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and the founder of SpaceX, revealed that he has Asperger’s syndrome.
During his monologue on the program, the divisive billionaire addressed the neurological condition.
He told the crowd, “I’m actually making history tonight as the first person with Asperger’s to host SNL.”
“At the very least, I’m the first to say it. As a result, I won’t be making much eye contact with the cast tonight. But don’t worry, I’m pretty good at running in emulation mode as a ‘human’.”
“Look, I know I often say or post weird stuff, but that’s just how my brain works,” he added, referring to his famous Twitter account.
“I just want to apologize to everyone I’ve offended by saying that I reinvented electric cars and am taking people to Mars on a rocket ship. Did you think I’d be a laid-back, normal guy as well?”
Musk isn’t the first SNL host to publicly admit to having Asperger’s syndrome. Dan Aykroyd, who hosted the show in 2003, has also spoken of his own diagnosis of Asperger’s syndrome.
During the show’s “Weekend Update” section, Musk also joked about the booming cryptocurrency Dogecoin, calling it “a hustle.”
In addition, his SpaceX company has announced the launch of the “DOGE-1 Mission to the Moon,” a lunar mission sponsored with Dogecoin.
