According to court papers obtained by CN News, ex-Nickelodeon star Drake Bell has been charged with attempted child endangerment and has pled not guilty.
The 34-year-old actor was also charged with “disseminating content harmful to kids,” according to paperwork filed in Cuyahoga County Court in Cleveland, Ohio.
The “Drake & Josh” star went in court on Thursday, when his personal bond was set at $2,500 and he was ordered to give a DNA sample collection.
The reported incident occurred on December 1, 2017, however no further information was supplied. Bell confirmed his appearance at The Odeon Concert Club on the day of the alleged crime in a tweet dated October 2017 that has since been deleted.
On Friday, a representative for the law firm representing Bell, Friedman & Nemecek informed Page Six that they have “no comment at this time,” but that “the facts will be revealed in the courtroom.”
The former child star’s publicists did not immediately respond to our request for comment. His real name is Jared Drake Bell.
Bell gained to prominence in the mid-2000s because to his co-star Josh Peck and his lead role on “Drake & Josh.”
However, in recent years, the actor has been involved in several legal issues.
Bell was charged with driving while inebriated in 2015. Melissa Lingafelt, his ex-girlfriend, said last year that he was verbally and physically violent throughout their relationship.
Bell rejected Lingafelt’s charges at the time, but he did concede that both sides had called each other “awful names.” He hinted that she was speaking out because she was on a “misguided quest for more money or attention.”
“I cannot and will not allow these rude and defamatory charges to go uncontested,” the actor added, “and I am examining my legal options.”
