Fans Got Crossed With Tom Cruise After He Won’t Sit Still At Wimbledon

Even though there were no couches to climb on, Tom Cruise made sure that everyone in the crowd at Ash Barty’s Wimbledon final could see him.

It was perhaps fitting that the movie actress was present for the Australian’s historic victory, given it was Mission Impossible for runner-up Karolina Pliskova.

However, not everyone was pleased with the arrival of the Hollywood legend, who was joined by Mission Impossible: 7 co-stars Hayley Atwell and Pom Klementieff.

Tennis fans slammed the 59-year-old for hogging the limelight, as well as the broadcasters and official Wimbledon social media accounts for directing it at him.

As he stood and waved to the audience and posed for photos with admirers, Cruise appeared to be soaking up the attention.

Professor Megan Davis, an Aboriginal campaigner, spearheaded the outrage on social media as Barty was relegated to the shadows.

She wrote, “I’m shocked the official Wimbledon account noticed Ash win because they seem enamoured with Tom Cruise.”

“OMG tom cruise it’s truly not about you,” Latika M Burke of the Sydney Morning Herald added.

Jon Ralph of the Herald Sun was likewise perplexed. He tweeted, “We absolutely need more Tom Cruise crowd photos.”

“Seriously. Another Twitter user commented, “Sit down.” “It’s all about the two incredible players on the court. They should pique the curiosity of the audience.”

All eyes were on Barty in the end, as she won 6-3 6-7 6-3, a fitting prise for one of the world’s greatest role models.

When meeting the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge after the match, Barty rebuffed Prince William’s suggestion that she didn’t appear to be nervous at all.

Barty was all class when asked about her place in the game and the role model she represents for the younger generation.

She said shyly, “I’ve just tried to live by the ideals that my parents taught in me. Being a decent person is more essential than being a good tennis player. I consider myself really fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn to play tennis. But every single day, being a good human being is my top priority.”
