Iggy Azalea’s new album End of an Era will be out in a few weeks, and it sounds like the title is fitting.
Since arriving to Miami in 2006 and launching her career, the Australian rapper has been on the go nonstop.
Azalea and her ex-boyfriend Playboi Carti welcomed their son Onyx into the world last year, and she’s been juggling parenthood and her music career ever since.
Azalea announced on her Twitter account on Thursday that she will be taking a hiatus from music following the release of End of an Era to focus on “creative ventures.”
“‘End of an Era’ is extremely meaningful to me because once my album drops next month, I’m going to take a few years off to focus on other creative projects and things I’m passionate and inspired by, outside of music,” she wrote.
“I’m looking forwards to showing you new parts of myself in the future. It’s best for me to focus my energy and attention on what I’m most passionate about, and I hope you’ll continue to support whatever creative projects I’m working on!”
“I genuinely like this record,” she concluded, “and I just want my followers to enjoy it with me.”
“I’m hoping to see a lot of you on tour!”
Azalea’s fans were understandably sad that she would not be releasing new music for years, but they assured the rapper that they would support her endeavours.
