In the #FreeBritney community, the words “we” and “our” have become a matter of controversy.
“We have a condo [in] Destin, Florida,” Jamie Lynn Spears tweeted in 2015.
In a 2016 interview with Country Music Television news, she claimed, “I host everyone in our condo.”
Critics are now accusing the 30-year-old mother of two of claiming part-ownership of a million-dollar condominium lawfully owned by Britney Spears, 39, who is fighting to remove her conservatorship, which began in 2008.
When the “Oops!… I Did It Again” singer was 20 years old, he bought a condominium in a dual-towered complex for $920,000 through an LLC.
According to conservatorship records from May 2009, “the Conservatee” Britney Spears owns the Bridgemore Timber LLC and its assets, which include a “condominium located in Florida.”
Outraged social media users pointed to the “Zoey 101” alum’s 2019 accusation that the “Toxic” singer had never paid her.
Jamie Lynn posted in an Instagram comment in May 2019, “I have NEVER been paid a dime by my sister, that is HER hard earned money, and I am NOT entitled to a cent of it.”
Jamie Lynn has never claimed ownership of the three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom condominium, but she has referred to it as a collectively owned house on at least two times.
She referred to a group that was “fortunate” with the big property when she talked about inviting “everyone at our condo” in a 2016 Country Music Television news interview.
“We’re very fortunate to have such a large condo,” she remarked.
“It has a capacity of roughly ten people. We all eat breakfast together, I prepare a large dinner, and we have beach space. And because we don’t have any deadlines or pressure while we write, the songs just come out naturally. “It’s difficult to call that work.”
During a Twitter AMA last year, she termed the Destin, Florida locale where the condo is located “the best getaway.”
Though she has visited the $1.01 million property on multiple documented times, the 3,650-square-foot condo built in 1983 is not thought to be her primary residence.
James Spears, also known as Jamie Spears, is the agent and manager of the Bridgemore Timber holding business.
The source of the $12,637.02 tax charge, for which CN News got a receipt, remains unknown.
Britney’s younger sister had largely avoided the conservatorship controversy until last week, when Britney chastised her on Instagram, stating she “showed up at an awards show and sang MY SONGS to remixes!!!!!”
Jamie Lynn’s performance of “Till the World Ends” at the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards seemed to be the incident she was alluding to.
CN News started a back-and-forth between the sisters, with Jamie Lynn, actress of Netflix’s “Sweet Magnolias,” calling for peace and her older sister mocking her in response.
