According to reports, Kanye West, a personal friend of the late DMX, helped raise $1 million for the late rapper’s family by selling tribute T-shirts.
According to reports, West commissioned Balenciaga to design the T-shirt, which sold out in less than 24 hours at $200 each over the weekend.
The money would go to DMX’s relatives, who were honored at a private funeral service at Brooklyn’s Christian Cultural Center on Sunday.
Yeezy had attended a memorial for DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, at the Brooklyn Barclays Center the day before.
According to sources, West, who kept a low profile at the ceremony, also assisted with Saturday’s stage set-up. He enlisted the assistance of renowned graphic artist Akeem Smith to design the layout.
Kanye West’s Sunday Service Choir performed at the memorial on Saturday, as well as words of mourning and remembrance from New York hip-hop artists Nas, Jadakiss, Eve, and Swizz Beatz.
