In Thursday’s Keeping Up With the Kardashians series finale, the Kardashian-Jenner family looks to the future, and for Kim Kardashian West, that includes discussing her divorce from Kanye West.
While the couple’s troubled relationship has been referenced in passing throughout KUWTK’s 20th and final season, Kim sits down with mum Kris Jenner for an in-depth discussion on what caused her to make her breakup public in the last episode.
Kim says of her life with Kanye, which has been split in recent years between their California home and Wyoming ranch, “I never thought I was lonely.” “That’s OK, I’ve always thought. I can simply focus on my children, while my spouse goes from place to state, and I’m along for the trip. And I was ok with it.”
She does concede, though, that “No, I realized after turning 40 this year. I don’t want a husband that lives in a different state than me. ‘That’s when we’re getting along the best,’ I reasoned, but that made me unhappy. And that’s not what I’m looking for.”
Kris says she just wanted her kid to be “happy and cheerful… And I don’t believe I’ve seen that in a long time.” She shares the family’s concern that Kim hasn’t been talking to them about her marital problems, but Kim claims that working through her troubles with a therapist has been more fruitful.
“I’ve achieved 10 times more than I ever imagined was possible” the reality star, business entrepreneur, and aspiring lawyer acknowledges, “but I don’t have a life to share it with.”
“I’m looking for someone who watches the same shows as me. I want someone who wants to work out with me,” Kim says, recalling how “third wheeling it” used to be a thing.
“During quarantine workout sessions with sister Khloe Kardashian and her fiancé, Tristan Thompson, made her want for a spouse who was present in many aspects of her life”.
She continues, “It’s the simple things. All of the major items are in my possession. Nobody would ever do anything like that since I have all the lavish, everything you could ever desire. And though I’m glad for such experiences, I believe I’m ready for the little ones that will mean a lot to me.”
After “waking up at 40 and realizing I simply want pure happiness,” Kim concludes that she doesn’t want to hurry any major decisions or life changes, but she does want to strive towards personal fulfillment.
“Obviously, perfect joy is not a total reality,” she admits, “but if I can have it more of the time, that’s all I want to accomplish. I simply want to be happy, wherever that leads me. That’s what I’m concentrating on right now: figuring out how to get there.”
Kris compliments her, saying, “You’re a really powerful girl. And you appear to be in control of everything.”
Kim concurs, “Calmness is my superpower.”
After six years of marriage, Kim filed for divorce from Kanye in February. Kim has been “in a wonderful mindset and moving on” in the months after, according to a source who spoke to ET last month.
At the time, a source added, “Kim is very focused on her family. Kim has spent most of her time with the children. Mom’s children like participating in outdoor activities with her, and they all spend a lot of time with their relatives. Kim enjoys keeping children occupied, creative, and active.”
According to reports, “[Kim] is continuing to be a wonderful mother while still working on her career. She is quite enthusiastic about a number of forthcoming projects. Her life is unquestionably improving.”
