Late rappers’ legacies are frequently defended by friends and followers.
Although an artist may no longer be alive, their fandoms ensure that their flags are carried long after they have passed away, and people frequently make parallels between deceased rappers.
On No Jumper, Adam22 discussed how XXXTentacion, who was shot and died in 2018, and Tupac Shakur, who was slain in a drive-by shooting in 1996, are similar.
The topic came up during an interview with Kurupt, who questioned Adam22 why he thought the two late rappers were alike.
Kurupt came in to enquire whether he knew Shakur personally as the No Jumper presenter was introducing himself. When Adam22 answered no, things took a turn for the worst.
“How you going to see because is like Pac, you ain’t even heard of [Tupac],” Kurupt remarked.
Adam22 stated that it was more about fans and whatnot, but Kurupt interjected once more.
“F*ck all of that, cuz. You don’t even know cuz. Don’t say somebody is like somebody you don’t know. You ain’t been around cuz.” Things got tense for a moment, but Kurupt straightened out and joked, “See how people get emotional about that sh*t.”
Everyone started laughing, and Adam22 said that he was thinking the entire time, “Is this going to be the viral moment?”
“You should have seen your face though, you were like, ‘Oh sh*t!'” said the rapper.
However, Kurupt did clarify why many Tupac fans would consider comparing him to anyone else to be offensive.
“He’s dead,” Kurupt said. “You wouldn’t be able to say that if he were still living.”
