Lindsey Buckingham’s big love, former Fleetwood Mac singer/guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, is done as the rocker’s wife goes her own way.
Kristen Messner, Buckingham’s wife of more than 20 years, filed for divorce in Los Angeles on Tuesday, according to sources.
The couple married in 2000 and have three children over the age of 17. The 71-year-old met Messner, 50, in the 1990s when she photographed him for one of his solo albums.
Buckingham told the Las Vegas Review-Journal ten years ago that he was fortunate to find love later in life.
“I had a lot of weird girlfriends,” the fingerpicker admitted, “and a lot of it was just an offshoot of the lifestyle we were all living.”
“Back in prior decades, I did witness a lot of friends who were parents and wives who weren’t really there and kind of screwed up their kids and weren’t there for their family circumstances. So I waited and was fortunate enough to meet someone rather late… it all worked out well. I got all the other stuff out of the way.”
Buckingham announced the breakup of his family chain on Twitter while promoting his new album, “I Don’t Mind,” and a 2021 tour.
Buckingham tweeted Tuesday, “My new self-titled album is one I’ve been trying to get out for a couple of years now, but unforeseen circumstances caused a postponement of plans on more than one occasion.”
“Now that we’re back on track, I’m ecstatic to be able to share new songs with my fans!”
Buckingham was famously thrown out of the renowned band in 2018, so this isn’t his first public breakup.
During Fleetwood Mac’s meteoric ascension to the top of the charts in the mid-70s, an avalanche of success, drugs, and infighting shattered his passionate romance with singing partner Stevie Nicks.
