When a guy in Maine attempted to post bail using counterfeit money, he almost pulled a fast one on the local sheriff.
Deputies investigating a stolen car complaint near Waterboro early Sunday morning stopped and arrested Michael Deschesne on an unrelated theft charge for which he had an outstanding warrant, according to a York County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post.
Deschesne said he had enough cash on him to post bail at the jail and handed the phony bills to the bail commissioner.
He was charged with further forgery after the bogus payment failed to pass inspection.
The sheriff’s office claimed Deschesne was able to post $100 in bail with genuine US cash later that day. His court hearing is set for August 4th.
