As if Megan Thee Stallion needed any more evidence of her savagery.
The “Hot Girl Summer” rapper is expected to be one of the next cover girl for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue this year, according to a Page Six.
“She’s the biggest star right now,” the source claimed, “so it’s a no-brainer, plus they adore surprises.”
She wouldn’t be the first artist to adorn the cover of a magazine rather than a model. Beyoncé has also graced the cover of the illustrious publication.
All year, the magazine has teased its inside-the-book roster. It will make history by featuring models like Leyna Bloom, the brand’s first transgender model of colour, and Lewis Freese, the brand’s first male finalist in the SI Swim Search, a segment where amateur models compete for a spot in the prestigious issue. Maggie Rawlins, a COVID nurse, is also a bikini model.
Before having to take a “meeting with the team,” a cagey spokesman informed us they didn’t believe the rapper was involved in the problem.
“[The Sports Illustrated crew] genuinely still doesn’t know who the cover lady will be,” they said after the press conference. I’m still on the fence. Until the day of the revelation, no one will know.”
Megan’s representatives will neither confirm or deny the rapper’s involvement in the scandal.
But, according to a source in the industry, we may expect to see her even more in the coming months.
“She’s working on a new album,” says the source. It’s understandable that she’d obtain such a large cover,” they explained.
Megan, 26, has also gotten plenty of practise posing in tiny bikinis for Fashion Nova’s second swimwear line.
We’ll have to wait and see if her collection makes an appearance in SI’s pages as well. On July 19, the magazine will be available for purchase.
