Monique Samuels is mourning the death of T’Challa, her beloved parrot.
In a sad Instagram post on Tuesday, the 37-year-old Real Housewives of Potomac alum shared that her African grey parrot had died earlier this month.
“My entire life was rocked on July 1 about 5 p.m.,” Samuels captioned a sequence of images and videos of her with the bird.
“In a strange accident, my @tchallasamuels was murdered.”
The mother of three continued, saying that she “barely can mention his name without sobbing,” and that the loss of T’Challa is “indescribable.”
“The agony is excruciating, and I’m utterly perplexed, confused, and unable to halt the emotional rollercoaster I’m now experiencing. My children continue to cry, which exacerbates the anguish” Samuels continued.
She went on to mention an event in which T’Challa flew away in August but returned the next day on his own.
“I had no clue God was preparing me for the unimaginable in that moment,” the former reality star wrote.
T’Challa was acquired by Samuels two years ago.
When he first appeared on the Bravo program in season 5, the bird was a breakthrough star, flying at costar Dr. Wendy Osefo and battling with O.G. Housewife Karen Huger.
Huger and T’Challa’s quarrel was dubbed “the finest feud of the season” by one Twitter user.
“I was hoping he’d outlive me!” In her blog post, Samuels stated. “He was at my side while I went through some of the most trying times of my life.”
He was even on Samuels’ side when she announced her departure from RHOP after the season 4 reunion aired. “I had no clue his page would stop there as well when I ended that chapter,” she stated.
Samuels referred to her parrot as “part of our entire family” and discussed how her life has changed after his departure.
“It’s too quiet in my place. My shoulder is very light. My mornings spent making coffee with him on my shoulder will never be the same” she said.
“I’m not sure why you had to leave us for good, but I’m happy to have had the opportunity to meet such a wonderful creature.”
“I’ll be eternally thankful to T’Challa for how he transformed my life and the lives of my family,” she added. “I’m not feeling well, but I’ll keep pushing on like I usually do. My lovely kid, please take care of yourself.”
She stated, “I adore animals and my husband wouldn’t let me get a dog, so I got a puppy with wings. To be honest, he’s the finest pet I’ve ever had. I had no idea birds were cuddlers.”
Samuels quipped, “I soar above the turmoil and s— on all my detractors.”
