Monster Truck Carries Casket Of Rapper DMX To Memorial Service In New York

The big-wheel truck carried his gleaming red casket from Yonkers to Brooklyn, with the words “Long Live DMX” spray-painted on the door.

Thousands of motorcycles took part in the ride, and thousands of people lined the streets to watch.

The service was only available to family and close friends, but it was broadcast live on YouTube for the general public.

Swizz Beatz and Nas, as well as his daughter, who rapped, were among the speakers at the two-hour ceremony, which also included Kanye West and Busta Rhymes.

On stage, DMX’s 15 children also spoke and rapped about their father.

“Our paternal grandfather is a king. Our father is a legend “Xavier Simmons, the eldest son, said.

“This man helped me to develop as a lover.”

DMX’s ex-wife, Tashera Simmons, said: “He did everything he did for you. He was really trying to make you happy. He’d always tried to put on his best performance for you.

“He needs you to love Jesus in the same way that he did. I adore his children. I admire his dad.”

On Friday, April 2, the 50-year-old, whose real name was Earl Simmons, was admitted to intensive care in New York and put on life support.

After a “catastrophic cardiac arrest,” he died a week later.

His family said relatives had been by his side and identified him as “a fighter who fought until the very end” in a statement announcing his death.

Columbia Records signed DMX in 1992, and his first album, It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot, was released in 1998.

His most recent public appearance was in a Verzuz Battle (an online DJ battle) with Snoop Dogg, which was viewed by over 500,000 people.

He made his acting debut in the 1998 film Belly and starred alongside Jet Li and Aaliyah in the 2000 film Romeo Must Die. On the film’s soundtrack, DMX and Aaliyah collaborated on Come Back in One Piece.

However, he was regularly arrested and jailed over a ten-year period, and he battled drug addiction.

Cynthia Roberts, 57, of Brooklyn, spoke at the memorial and said she had been a fan of DMX since his Ruff Ryders days.

She described the rapper’s music as “timeless,” and added, “He was a genuine gentleman. He said it as it was. He had a profound effect on me.

“I reassure myself that he was sent here for a reason. We all have jobs to do, and he completed his.”
