NSW Has Recorded 177 New Local COVID-19 Cases & Lockdown Is Now Extended For Four Weeks

In the 24 hours leading up to 8:00 p.m. yesterday, NSW has 177 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases.

In the current Delta outbreak, this is the highest number of daily new infections ever recorded.

According to NSW Health, 46 patients were infectious while in the community, while another 22 cases were only isolated for part of their infectious period.

Gladys Berejiklian, the Premier of New South Wales, has ordered a four-week extension of the Greater Sydney lockdown, which includes the Blue Mountains, Shellharbour, the Central Coast, and Wollongong.

She also announced new guidelines limiting people to shopping for essentials within a 10-kilometer radius of their homes.

The ban on non-essential personnel leaving their local government area (LGA) has been extended to cover the following new areas:
