The birth certificate for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s daughter, Lilibet Diana, has been released, and her parents’ names appear to be different from those on her brother Archie’s.
Lili was born on June 4 at 11:40 a.m. in the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, which is close to Meghan and Prince Harry’s residence in Montecito, Calif., according to Lili’s birth certificate seen by CN News on Tuesday.
“The Duke of Sussex” is Prince Harry’s first name, while “His Royal Highness” is his last name.
Meanwhile, Meghan listed her full name Rachel Meghan Markle instead of her royal titles, as the form needed their legal names and her maiden name.
In May 2019, Archie’s birth certificate was made public 11 days after his birth.
Harry’s name was “His Royal Highness Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex” on their son’s birth certificate, while Meghan’s was “Rachel Meghan Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex.”
Although Meghan does not have a princess title, their occupations on Archie’s certificate were described as “Prince” and “Princess of the United Kingdom.”
The occupations of the parents are not listed on the California birth certificate.
Last year, it was revealed that Meghan, 39, and Harry, 36, would keep their His/Her Highness titles but would no longer use them as part of their arrangement with Queen Elizabeth.
Despite the fact that they are still the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the pair has been referred to as “Harry and Meghan” since they left their official positions.
As the monarch’s grandchildren, Archie and Lili will automatically receive prince and princess titles when Prince Charles becomes king.
Royal historian Robert Lacey stated that he expects Charles would follow precedent.
“I don’t think he’ll take the unpopular and unfriendly step of revoking his grandchildren’s royal status,” said Lacey, who just updated his book Battle of Brothers: William, Harry, and the Inside Story of a Tumultuous Family.
Meghan and Harry announced the birth of their second child with a heartfelt statement on their Archewell website earlier this month.
“We were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili, on June 4th,” they stated.
“She is all we could have hoped for, and we are grateful for the love and prayers we’ve received from all around the world. Thank you for your continuous compassion and support as our family goes through this difficult time.”
