The city of Chicago has been rocked by a brazen shooting outside of a Chicago jail.
The Windy City has always been a hotbed of debate over gun violence, and the attack that occurred over the weekend has further fueled the debate.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Londre Sylvester, aka KTS Dre, was being released from the Cook County jail on Saturday evening when several suspects opened fire.
Sylvester had only made it across the street from the jail when he was shot up to 64 times, according to reports.
During the incident, two other people were injured, but they are expected to recover.
The first victim was a 60-year-old woman who was apparently with Sylvester and was shot in the knee, while the second victim was a 30-year-old woman who happened to be nearby.
A gunshot grazed her mouth, according to reports. The rapper was shot in the head and body, thus his injuries were thought to be severe.
According to the police investigation, “it appears Sylvester was the intended target whereas (the women) were struck inadvertently.”
According to the Tribune, the suspects rushed into their cars after the attack and drove off in different directions.
Sylvester had been released on bail with the condition that he be monitored electronically.
Last month, the rapper was accused of breaking the terms of his bail for a weapons accusation he faced last year.
