Today several artists, including Lil Baby, are grieving the passing of Florida rapper Money Mitch.
Despite rumours that Money Mitch’s real identity has been named as both Marcus Pettis and Mitchell Holmes in conflicting publications this week, multiple sources claim that the 23-year-old rapper was discovered dead on July 23.
Mitch was apparently riding in an Uber when it was pulled over for a traffic violation in West Palm Beach, Florida.
He allegedly jumped out of the truck and started shooting at the officers, who returned fire.
According to reports, Mitch was not harmed during the gunfire with authorities and was able to depart the site.
Authorities reportedly discovered blood approximately a block away during their search for Money Mitch before discovering him with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office’s Frank DeMario appeared to exonerate officers of blame.
“We followed him to a building and observed some blood on the first floor on the second floor. We assumed he was hurt” DeMario stated.
“We were not involved in the shooting at all.”
Two of the officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave at once, and it was revealed after his death that he was expecting to negotiate a record deal with Lil Baby.
Over the weekend, the Atlanta superstar reportedly posted on his Instagram Story, “Bra I’m sorry I couldn’t save you. Dammit Mitch, you were on me every single day.”
No one else was injured as a result of the incident. We extend our condolences to Mitch’s family.
