One year after he and their newborn son, Josey, laid her to rest, Ryan Dorsey wrote a poignant farewell to his ex-wife, Naya Rivera.
The 5-year-old is soothed by the thought that “he’ll see you again,” according to Dorsey’s social media message to the “Glee” star, who tragically drowned last July during a boating trip with Josey.
Over the weekend, Dorsey, 38, said on Instagram, “He’s doing ok.”
“He’s such a tough, resilient child. He misses you but believes he’ll see you again, and the invisible string has aided us in this ever-evolving transition of your time with us on earth, which was unfairly and for reasons we’ll never understand cut short…too soon…”
Josey “has grown so much,” the “Big Sky” actor, who was married to Rivera from 2014 to 2018, said, despite the fact that it’s hard to believe it’s been a year since her passing.
“He’s such an explorer, so inquisitive,” Dorsey commented, “He’s sweet, extremely humorous, and his laugh always brightens up the room.”
Rivera may also “fly high, rest in peace, knowing what he’s doing,” he said. ok… “He’s being properly raised, and he’s surrounded by family and friends who adore him and you. 🖤💔💙🖤.”
Nickayla Rivera, Rivera’s sister, moved in with Dorsey shortly after the actor’s death to help raise Josey, a decision he justified after “absurd narratives” about their connection surfaced.
Several of Rivera’s “Glee” co-stars paid tribute to her on the first anniversary of her death last month with performances and tributes.
Heather Morris, a close friend of Rivera’s, received a tattoo on her left arm with the words “Tomorrow is not guaranteed,” which was taken from one of Rivera’s final tweets.
In a social media homage, she said, “I’m so grateful GOD LAYED A HAND and brought us together as best friends, mum friends, scene partners, and all in between.”
Matthew Morrison, Jenna Ushkowitz, and Kevin McHale were among the co-stars who paid respect to Rivera, who portrayed Santana Lopez on the show.
Rivera went missing on July 8, 2020, after her kid was discovered alone on a pontoon on Lake Piru in Southern California, with the actress nowhere to be found.
On July 13, her body was discovered and she was confirmed dead, ending a days-long search.
She was 33 years old at the time.
