Kiley Holman was out celebrating her bestie’s birthday when she got hit in the face by an unexpected guest.
When Holman, 13, and her friend Georgia Reed, 14, went on the legendary Sling Shot ride at Morey’s Piers & Beachfront Water Park in Wildwood, NJ, they received more than they bargained for.
She was launched into the air at 75 miles per hour, colliding with a speeding bird.
The incredible moment the bird bopped into Holman’s astonished face as she was flung into the sky was captured in the resultant video, which was first posted online on July 13 but became viral Thursday morning.
As Holman removed the beach bird off Reed’s face and neck, tossing the animal to the side to set it free, Reed appeared blissfully oblivious.
Kiley told Fox News, “I knew there was no going back and it was simply going to strike me. I was at a loss for what to do, so I sat and waited for it to spin over. I just grabbed it and quickly tossed it away.”
Arena Reed, the mother of the other teen, told the Daily Mail that she didn’t know what had happened until the ride was over: “I saw the wings fall from the vehicle, but at first I assumed they were tickets,” she said.
The seagull appeared unharmed and flew away, leaving only a few feathers and one irritated teen — who, like the seagull, was unharmed.
Holman said she has no plans to ride the Sling Shot again, according to her local television station.
