In the killing of British Black Lives Matter activist Sasha Johnson, an 18-year-old male was charged on Friday.
Devonte Brown has been charged with murder conspiracy, according to authorities.
Cameron Deriggs, another 18-year-old, was charged with the same crime immediately after the London shooting on May 23.
According to Metropolitan Police, Johnson, a 27-year-old mother of two, is still in serious condition. She was hit in the head and had two operations, according to the BBC.
Johnson is a renowned activist who helped organize demonstrations in 2020 after the death of George Floyd.
She is a founder member of the United Kingdom’s Taking the Initiative Party. Taking the Initiative has been dubbed the first Black-led political party in the United Kingdom.
Johnson was not targeted in the shooting, according to police, and it had nothing to do with her activities.
On May 23, four males allegedly broke into a house party and opened fire early in the morning, according to cops.
Because of her profession, Johnson said she frequently got death threats. Shortly after the incident, Deriggs was one of five persons detained.
The last four have yet to be identified. According to London police, they were all charged with minor offenses and freed on bail.
