On Saturday, Kobe Bryant was honored at the Basketball Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony.
Michael Jordan inducted Kobe Bryant into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020, and his widow, Vanessa Bryant, couldn’t help but cry during her remarks.
“I used to stop praising my husband in public because I believed he already received ample adoration from his fans. Someone had to get him back to earth along the way. I’m sure he’s smiling in heaven right now because I’m about to publicly congratulate him for his achievements on one of the most public stages “Vanessa remarked. “I see him now, arms crossed, a big smile on his face, thinking, ‘Isn’t this some sh*t?'”
“I wish my husband could be here to acknowledge this fantastic honor. He and Gigi have earned the right to come here and witness this. Gigi will be ecstatic to see her father inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame “she went on. “I’m sure he was looking forwards to his visit. He requested that the hall of fame add a sixth ticket for a Capri. He was overjoyed.”
Vanessa then expressed her gratitude to Kobe’s family and those who have helped.
“I don’t have a prepared speech about my husband because he improvised every speech. He was bright, eloquent, and talented in a variety of areas, including public speaking. However, I’m sure he’d thank everyone who helped him get here, even those who criticized him and told him he couldn’t achieve his goals. He’d like to express his gratitude to each of them for inspiring him to come here. After all, he’s the one who proved you wrong “she remarked.
“Kobe had many successes,” Vanessa continued, listing his basketball and other achievements. “Being the greatest girl dad was his most coveted achievement.”
Vanessa ended her speech by thanking her late husband for everything.
“Dear Kobe, I appreciate you being the best husband and father you can be. Thank you for learning from your mistakes and rising as a person. Thank you for always striving for excellence. Thank you for never leaving us. Thank you very much for all of your efforts. Thank you for taking care of our family. Thank you for providing us with our daughters. Natalia, Gianna, Bianka, and Capri are the four main characters. Thank you for working so hard to provide for us and for providing us with the most incredible life possible “she added “I thank you enough to last five lifetimes, and I choose you every time.”
“Thank you for sacrificing so much time away from Daddy, Natalia and Gianna, so that he could concentrate on being the best at all he set his mind to. Bianka and Capri, I’m so glad you’re here tonight to see this. Daddy was amazing. He adores you, ladies, so much “Vanessa shared her thoughts.
“Baby, I congratulate you. Your hard work and sacrifices were rewarded, “‘I’m getting emotional,’ she said. “If you’re going to bet on anything, bet on yourself, you once said. I’m glad you took a chance on yourself, overachiever. You made it happen. You’ve made it into the hall of fame. You’ve proven to be a true champion. You’re not just a standout performer. You’re one of the greatest of all time. I’m incredibly proud of you. Kobe Bean Bryant, I will always love you.”
Vanessa was surrounded by fans and had her friend La La Anthony by her side at the event in Springfield, Massachusetts, on Saturday.
Jordan was chosen by Kobe’s family to present him with one of basketball’s highest honors. Jordan had previously paid tribute to Kobe at his memorial in February 2020 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. He discussed their friendship, saying that Kobe was like a younger brother to him.
Vanessa shared a photo of herself and her daughters touring the late Lakers star’s Hall of Fame exhibit on social media ahead of Saturday’s event.
